An amber-glazed pottery jar with cover

東漢   醬釉陶壺及蓋

The jar is well potted in the form of a contemporary bronze hu, with an almost globular body rising to a broad waisted neck and wide mouth encircled on the exterior by a slightly raised collar, all on a low splayed foot. Incised double lines encircle the body at the widest part and on the shoulders.  A lead glaze of rich amber colour is applied overall. The cover is of low domed form, with glaze of similar colour, now degraded.
