A Yaozhou moulded peony-pattern bowl

北宋    耀州窯印牡丹紋盌

The bowl is well potted with shallow sides rising to a slightly everted rim. The interior is moulded with an overall pattern of a peony blossom amid foliage. The veining of the leaves is indicated by feather-like incising. A glaze of good olive-green tone is applied overall, pooling to a deeper tone in the recesses of the moulding and incising. The low straight foot has a broad unglazed footrim showing the grey ware.
