An inlaid Korean celadon ten-lobed footed cup
高麗 青瓷象嵌菊花紋杯
The body is of deep “U”-shape with the steep sides divided into ten lobes, each curved slightly in towards the top, and with a correspondingly ten lobed vertical rim. Each lobe is decorated in sanggam technique with columns of white stylized chrysanthemum flowerheads with delicate black sepals on vertical stems rising from furled leaves, all beneath a narrow white striated border. The lobing continues onto the high splayed foot. A bubbled grey green glaze is applied overall, leaving only the spur-marks on the underside of the foot unglazed. Later fitted with a Japanese pierced metal rim for use as a koro.
